The Geography Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret will hold “The 3rd International Conference on Anthropocene, Global Environmental Change and Powerful Geography (ICoAGPG)” as a hybrid conference on August 6th-7th , 2026, at the Aula of Building F, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta, Indonesia. The conference aims to disseminate research findings and innovative ideas in addressing environmental degradation and climate change, while also contributing to policy discussions and sustainable environmental management strategies.
The 3rd ICoAGPG 2026 adopts the theme “Geo-Ecological System in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Challenges for Sustainability, Human Responsibility and Disaster Preparedness.” This theme highlights the critical role of geospatial technologies and artificial intelligence in advancing the understanding of geo-ecological systems, strengthening sustainability initiatives, and enhancing disaster resilience in the Anthropocene era.
The conference will feature distinguished speakers with expertise in global environmental change, geography, and geospatial technologies, including Prof. Stella Christie, A.B., Ph.D. (Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology – in confirmation), Associate Prof. Dr. Brent Doberstein (University of Waterloo, Canada), Associate Prof. Sulfikar Amir, Ph.D. (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore), Dr. Annisa Triyanti (Utrecht University, Netherlands), Prof. Dr. Drs. Eko Haryono, M.Si. (Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia), and Prof. Dr. Chatarina Muryani, M.Si. (Universitas Sebelas Maret, Indonesia).
We welcome contributions from academics, researchers, practitioners, teachers, and students on a wide range of topics, including land degradation and land conservation, biodiversity and ecosystem services, resilient cities, and the application of artificial intelligence for geo-systems. The conference also covers hydro-meteorological, biological, and geophysical disasters, disaster mitigation and adaptation, soil science, water resource management, and ocean and coastal management. Additional topics include climate change and forest-based adaptation, air pollution, the greenhouse effect and Urban Heat Island (UHI), as well as earth monitoring using geospatial technologies. Furthermore, contributions related to green infrastructure and sustainability, sustainable land use and urban planning, and regional planning are highly encouraged.
