About ICoAGPG 2024

Geography Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta, is pleased to welcome to the 2nd International Conference on Anthropocene, Global Environmental Change and Powerful Geography (ICoAGPG) 2024. The conference will be held online on August 10, 2024. We expect participants worldwide to discuss “From Crisis to Opportunity: Adapting and Mitigating to Climate Change for Sustainable Development.”

Climate change is a global challenge that requires coordinated action across national borders because it can threaten the earth’s sustainability. These challenges pose technological and policy innovation opportunities in various fields to align climate change and sustainable development goals. The integration of adaptation and mitigation ensures that efforts to address climate change must contribute to improving ecosystems to realize human well-being and invest in a promising and sustainable future for future generations. Increased public awareness and engagement for climate change mitigation is critical to making change locally, nationally, and internationally. Sustainable development is expected to consider the needs of current generations without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, not a utopia. An important topic in the discussion of the 2nd ICoAGPG was the crisis faced by the global community due to climate change and the potential to turn that crisis into an opportunity for sustainable development.

We hope this discussion forum generates new ideas and collaborates with others to develop solutions to overcome climate change. By involving various stakeholders, discussions can lead to more inclusive and sustainable solutions.
